Have you heard of the Lincolns Community Committee?

Lincolns commitment and purpose for “being” is our people:

CLIENTS | TEAM | COMMUNITY

When it comes to the Community, our aim is to support locally or to find initiatives that align with our values of Respect and Excellence and that work with regional areas where many of our clients are based.

We are very proud of the achievements of our team in raising funds, volunteering both at a professional and personal level and the Partners’ endorsement and support of local and state charities. Some of our ongoing support includes:

  • workplace giving to Foodbank Albany where the Partners match employee contributions dollar for dollar

  • monthly dry goods food donations which are delivered to Denmark CRC Food Pantry and Foodbank Albany

  • MS Swim-a-thon

  • Albany Hospice Spin-a-thon.

As part of our ongoing community focus, we would like to put the spotlight on the Denmark Community Foundation (WA) Inc and the Albany Community Foundation. These not for profit organisations were established to assist in the collection and distribution of grants, donations and bequests to community groups and individuals.

DENMARK COMMUNITY FOUNDATION (DCF)

The DCF has various worthwhile causes it sponsors, including:

  • The Albany radiation machine

  • Support in the prevention of youth suicide and training

  • Annual art exhibition of botanical artists

  • Food, accommodation and emergency assistance for those who are living rough in Denmark in association with the Denmark CRC

  • The 2022 bushfire emergency response which was overseen by DCF Deputy Chair, Heather Moyle.

The Denmark Bushfire of February 2022, occurred in a period of high winds and temperatures that culminated in catastrophic fire danger. The fire burnt through 2,500 hectares of forest and farmland, destroyed four homes, numerous outbuildings, vehicles, farming infrastructure and fencing. It burned for several days despite the efforts of more than 150 firefighter and 16 water-bombing aircraft.

In response to this catastrophic event, the DCF established the Denmark Response Fund and the Denmark Recovery Fund. A secure on-line donation/receipt and funding application page was added to the DCF website, and flyers directing donors to the website were distributed at a community meeting and to CBD businesses who provided support.

Denmark Shire officially recognised the DCF as the preferred organisation for community donations and directed financial contributions to the DCF. Two donation streams provided donors with a choice of non-deductible or tax deductible options.

Funds collected were distributed in the form of accommodation, food, clothing, emergency building supplies, household goods and provision of other services in accordance with ATO guidelines.

Both the Albany Community Foundation and the Denmark CRC were outstanding with their support of the DCF efforts. Denmark Community Foundation

ALBANY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION (ACF)

The ACF was established in 2015 with the fundamental objective of helping local people facing hardship.

The ACF works closely with local front line support agencies to make sure that those who are most in need get the help they need in a timely manner, with ACF’s resources being used to cover the costs of essential services and items that are not covered by other funding sources.

The ACF never gives cash handouts, however by working closely with our partners they effectively and efficiently fill the gaps in the times of hardship and crisis.

Since its inception the ACF has supported local people in need to the tune of $940,000 and in doing so has helped thousands of locals in their times of need.

More recently the ACF has launched a Homelessness Crisis Response Fund (CRF) in response to alarming increases in homelessness and the cost-of-living crisis that our local community is experiencing. Yes, other communities are experiencing similar issues, but by working closely with our partners in the frontline agencies they are proactively working to keep a roof over the heads of vulnerable people to prevent them becoming homeless. If wish to support the DCF or the ACF with donations or bequests or by becoming a member, please make contact directly with them. The funds are used to benefit the local community so please give generously.
