All this excitement with baby showers, birth date guessing games, impending parental leave and newborn visits has us thinking about what options there are available for new parents in regards to their work arrangements and any benefits they are eligible for once their baby arrives.

Governments can be slow in adopting new technologies and ideas when it comes to dealing with the services for its citizens. The Australian Government is no exception. It can be a time consuming and costly exercise when dealing with large bureaucracies.

Single touch payroll (STP) is a new way of reporting tax and superannuation information to the Australian Taxation Office. This reporting is done digitally through STP-enabled software and is submitted after every pay run.

Fellow readers, the motion before us today is that the success of our community relies on the active involvement of our volunteers. The greatness or success of our community can be measured in increased sales for our businesses, increased visitors to the region, fewer complaints from customers, decreased unemployment rate, the list goes on. I am here today to affirm that Coretta Scott King’s words of wisdom twenty years ago are still relevant today. The future of our community is in the hands of our volunteers.
